Deze week ben ik te vinden rondom Via Vigevano in Milaan, samen met Rikkert Paauw, Hein Lagerweij en Anna Brecht. Het Public Design Festival (Esterni) heeft ons projectvoorstel geselecteerd uit 640 inzendingen.

Foundation involves all the people living in the area in the Recycling of waste materials used to build houses or old furniture. The aim of the project is to move the materials collected to a waste container, turning it into a small house, a meeting place for neighbours and passers-by.

Nieuwe interventies en nieuwe perspectieven in Utrechtse kunst

Op 20 november 2009 bij zonsopgang om 8.07 uur start de eerste editie van Nieuwe Grond: een gezelschap van dertig kunstenaars duikt gedurende drie dagen onder in de stad, intervenieert, reflecteert en werkt aan artistieke visies op de identiteit van Utrecht en haar ambities zoals een grootse viering van 300 jaar Vrede van Utrecht in 2013 en Culturele Hoofdstad van Europa in 2018 .

Some critics say that this year’s galleries lacked the pizzazz of past years, but we found a tangible humility that responded well to the changing design environment. A lot of the ideas focussed on people and the environment, rather than the creation of big-ego products.

Jetty van Zwieten’s “De Prachtwijkpionier” project responded to the political attack against so-called problem neighbourhoods. She designed maps that introduce people to the most interesting and unexpected spots of these lesser understood locales. Restaurants, unique architecture and inspiring residents are pointed out and the most interesting companies are then teamed up with similar enterprises in more trendy city hubs.
